The foresight into not only what a smart public charging station could be, but is what a premium charging station should be. By having internal hardware, (though more costly and complicated to design), which allows their stations to be networked and able to monitor errors and report usage, this gives them real world information as to how effective and reliable their products are. Because of this you can simply check the app to see if the station is in use before wasting time traveling to the station only to discover that it is either already in-use or out of service. THIS is how all public charging stations should function. To take it a step further, having their CP HOME charging station unit is a major level above everything else. While more costly than other chargers that can obviously charge your EV in the same manner, none of them are networked to report information to you. If you dont care about this information, then you probably havent read this far into a review but if so, you now have an app that shows you all of your charging history for your EV whether at home or at (ChargePoint) public stations. With ChargePoint stations, you have the following information, both historical AND real-time, of your charging behavior: -Energy Usage -Energy Cost -Charging Status -Graphed Usage If you log into the ChargePoint website, you can then view even more data over configured time periods. I will certainly be seeking out ChargePoint stations from now on in order to keep all of my charging history not just all in one place...but actually available and accurate. When people who are curious about how much it costs to charge an EV, you would always need to have manually kept track of this yourself and while you may get close, you could never be accurate. Now you can be extremely accurate by viewing your charging history by days/weeks/months/years. Some people, like myself, enjoy and appreciate knowing what is happening in the world around them, while others prefer to not be aware. ChargePoint is a premium app with premium charging stations for both types of people.
The app is horrible. I cant do very basic functions like recover my own user name (why, why cant I use my email? The emails sent to me have no username anywhere). Its extremely painful to use a charge station that is right in front of you. No bar or QR code to scan, or code to enter. You have to find it on the map. If there are a lot of charge station in the area, its *very* hard to pick the right one. Sometimes the names are long enough that they are shortened in the selection, and you cant tell which one is yours. Horrible.
This app is excellent for locating charging stations. I like that you can see how much charge you are getting in real time. I would recommend this to anyone with an i3.
Why on earth cant I just stick my freakin credit card in a slot like any gas station to get a charge??? Or as someone else, mentioned, use a qr code or SOMETHING that allows me to get a simple charge with out calling an agent or fumbling around on my phone for an hour to get the stupid thing to unlock. I also find that the placement of charges point chargers are often absurd. Im here in Sebastopol and there is an entire charger dedicated to a handicap space. Unless youre handicapped you cant use this charger so it just sits idle all of the time.
Great and easy to use
Get distance, details, and reviews of each charge station. No issues yet.
What to say, it does what it says it does and helps me find my car....
It centers on my location, showing available chargers, and allowing me to activate the charge.
App is much snappier and I like the new layout.
Quickly find stations, quickly start a session, and now integrated with google maps for directions. Everything I need.
My car been unplugged now for 24 hours still session open and car plugged in. I called company no help at all. They asked me if I was plugged in? Lol They couldnt even end the session. Charge card still being charged. I even tried to remove my charge from the home page on my home computer it wouldnt let me remove. PATHETIC
Very useful app. Nice features, all working fine.
Why cant I just plug the station ID # for private chargers in the app instead of telling someone on the phone? I waste 10 minutes everyday calling the toll free # because it takes 10 business days to receive the card.
I liked this app a lot before the July 8 update. It crashes instantly. I have iOS 8.1.3
I just wanted to see where local charging stations are, out of curiosity since Im shopping for a car and might get an EV. But nope
No stations are ever listed.
This is a nicely designed app for interacting with ChargePoint vehicle charging stations. Ive been able to use all of the apps features, including starting and ending a charging session from the app. What matters most is that the charging stations are up and running and that they are connected to a reliable data network. The only time I wasnt able to initiate a charge from the app was when both my phone and the charging station seemed to be relying on a very slow 3G data connection. I had to use my ChargePoint card to initiate the charging session.
Great app - I like being able to set favorite charging locations and then check availability, getting notifications for charging completion and plug removal, also I like to see charging progress. I wish there were even more charging stations :-)
The new version of the app now reports charging activity in terms of miles added, not kWh. There is no way to toggle between the two. The only way to get back to kWh is to delete the vehicle model from your profile. Why would you assume users want a dumbed-down estimate that probably takes no account of weather and other conditions, instead of just providing the actual data, or at least the option to get at the actual data??? Makes no sense at all.
