ChargePoint: Electric Vehicle Charging On the Go App Reviews

Its great

Truly a wonderful app.

Charging cost more than Gas!

They are so many issues with charge point and charging in general. I bought this car to save money on gas and all the charge points in LA are so over priced that they cost more than gas. God forbid you stay more than 3 hours then rates jump and you owe $6 for one charge that lasts me one day. I would rate this app higher if they had built in a 15 minute warning that the over charges were about to kick in. I charge at my place of work and I try to remember to pull the electric charger out. I think this addition to the app would help tremendously on avoiding fees that have cost me more than gas at this point.

Very easy to use and tracking is great

I have never had an issue with this app, love that I can track my cars charging since I cannot do it through my I-MiEV. If you cant start a session by app, call support so they can start it for you and can fix the issue for people that use the station in the future. Also now that I have the Home station, I love that my charging activity shows the break down between my home and public charging costs.

$25 dollar deposits?!

You must assign a card and your are automatically charged $25 as it apparently states in their terms and conditions...this apparently is not refundable.....I advise you avoid this application!

Great Ap

I love this app. It shows current charging activity, allows you to stop or start charging. Tells you open and used stations. Just a great informative app. If you are a charge point user, this is a must

I only use this service because there are no alternatives

The chargepoint service is terrible, and they appear to have a monopoly on the charging station market where I live, so I doubt very much a negative review will impact a company that doesnt have to compete. Nevertheless, this is a warning to anyone who uses this app - DO NOT RELY ON IT to remind you your car is charged. Set a reminder yourself. Trust me on this. Chargepoints business model charges you for the time you spend plugged in, not the kilowatts you use. So, for the first few hours, its a nice, affordable $1/hour. It takes about 2.5 hours to charge my Fusion. But if you forget your car is plugged in, like Ive done, it goes up to $5/hour after four hours. So you can find yourself spending $30 unwittingly. Theres nothing wrong with this business model, of course. They dont want people parked in the spots all day long. But the app, at the beginning, used to tell me my car was done. Now, it doesnt even bother. There is no setting to do that. I have push notes enabled. It SHOULD work. But it doesnt. Im not conspiracy-minded, so I dont think they deliberately design the app to stop notifications just so youll rack up huge unneccesary charges, but it is pretty annoying. Set your own alarm. Dont rely on this app for anything, because it will not help you.

Easy

Easy to use. Can start and stop session on app

Cannot add a credit card

We recently purchased an EV, and it came with two ChargePoint cards. We added the card numbers to the ChargePoint app and activated them. However, we could not add credit card information to the app! We tried to add three different credit cards, and even a PayPal account, but none of theme worked. We also tried to add the credit cards and PayPal account through the ChargePoint website, but it keeps generating an error message "Some error occured while updating payment source. Please try again." For FIVE DAYS! AND THE PROBLEM HASNT BEEN RESOLVED YET! Reported the problem through their website, but they respond extremely slowly (once a day), and keep misuderstanding the situation (e.g., they thought I had an issue with signing up). Extremely disappointed with their SLOW SERVICE and INCAPABILITY to solve such a simple and critical problem promptly. That the biggest charging company like ChargePoint does not have a proper customer service shows how small the EV market in this country still is.

One App thats a must for EV car drivers

Is has most EV charge stations Plugshare has more, but comes in handy when you need to pay and chargepoint is accepted. Tracks your KWh, monthly usage etc

Works well!

I have used this App for over a year now at multiple locations in the Bay Area without any trouble or glitch, thats quite rare experience for me.

Great App

The new updates keep getting better. This app is super fast and I really like the charging trends. Great work ChargePoint!

Feature request: display session kWH with full precision

If you are someone who tracks energy efficiency, you cant access the full precision session kWH in the app. You must go to the desktop website in order to view the full precision kWH. Please display this full precision in the app too! For example, a session that shows as 10 kWh in the app could actually be anything from 9.500 kWh to 10.499 kWh when viewed on the desktop website.

Cant login

I can login into the website but the app doesnt work.

Cant Register

It doesnt even allow me to register.

Cant log in

App keep saying username is not found but I can log in on the website just fine. Please fix.

Green

Nice app. I dont all functions yet but it seems very nice so far.

Best Electric Car Charging App

ChargePoint is the best of the electric car charging apps. It shows stations near you, whether they are occupied or available, price (most are free), and details on how to find them. I dont use any apps for this other than ChargePoint.

Slow & Stupid

Station details are VERY slow to load and once loaded, satellite view cannot be expanded.

I like it!!!

Ive used it several times now and every time it has worked flawlessly!!

Great app to go with a great charger

Love that this app works with my ChargePoint home charger so no matter where I charge I have one place to look for my total cost to drive. Works perfect.
